SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN - May 28, 2007:- New Officers of the College of West Africa
Alumni Association, USA (CWA-AA, USA) were elected on Saturday, May 26, 2007 to
steer the affairs of the association for a two-year term. The newly elected officers
include Mrs. Sylvia Henri-Wonasue, National President (re-elected); Dr. Vera Tolbert,
1st Vice President (re-elected); Mrs. Laverne Jones-Williams, 2nd Vice President; Dr.
Fannia Boayue, Secretary; Mrs. Estelle Marshall-Kandakai, Financial Secretary (re-
elected); Mr. Arthur Droe, Treasurer; and Rev. Charles Boayue, Jr., National Chaplain.

The elections proceedings were conducted by former CWA-AA, USA National
Presidents, Ms. Monica K. Capehart & Ms. Lillian Boayue, who also serve on the
Executive Board as an Ex-Officio. The newly elected officers were installed into office
by former Liberian Ambassador, Hon. Martinus Johnson, during the Crystal Award
Ceremony on Sunday, May 28, 2007 at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Southfield,
Michigan

Hon. Johnson charged the new leaders to continue the good work that had already
been initiated to uplift CWA. He called upon the President and other officers to work
diligently and sacrificially and to also show accountability in whatever they do. The
new leadership received warm congratulations and words of encouragement from all
of the guests present at the award ceremony, members of the Executive Board, and
the entire membership of CWA.

CWA-AA, USA National President, Mrs. Sylvia Henri-Wonasue, expressed her thanks
and appreciation to members of the association for their confidence in her
administration and for reelecting her for the 2nd time. She promised to continue to
work in the best interest of CWA, especially at this time when CWA is being
completely renovated and revived to obtain its original place in Liberia’s history. Mrs.
Wonasue conveyed sentiments of congratulations to the other officers on behalf of
CWA-AA members throughout the United States and extolled the officers for what she
described as “an excellent step forward”.  She pledged the full support of her
leadership in the undertakings of CWA, and challenged all members to work
diligently to help fulfill the overall goals of CWA.
